Area(s) of Study: Metal Oxide and Sulfide Chemistry
With the recent discovery of the catalytic properties of certain transition metal sulfides, there has been renewed interest in their possible industrial applications. By studying the better understood tungsten oxides, certain inferences can be made about the expected properties of similar tungsten sulfides. In addition, studying the reactivity of smaller tungsten oxides and sulfides with water can reveal information about the reactivity of larger compounds. This project attempts to reveal such information about general reactivity in order to apply its findings to larger complexes.
