Molybdenum vs. Tungsten in Metal Oxide Cluster Reactivity with Water
Metal oxide clusters have been a topic of interest due to their catalytic behavior in a variety of chemical reactions. Activation of small molecules, such as water, by metal oxides has been especially interesting. Extensive work is being done with dissociative addition of water to molybdenum and tungsten oxides to reveal important differences in reaction pathways and energy barriers for those pathways. Through comparison studies with different transition metal oxides, we hope to gain a better understanding of the role of these clusters as catalytic nanoparticles.
